The Finance Analyst will be a core member of the Finance team and work closely with several operating teams to use data to identify new opportunities to generate revenues and improve profitability. The Finance Analyst’s work with the sales department will include approval of Insertion Orders, ensure sales teams adhere to rate-cards and discount levels, create new pricing plans for advertising products and packages and assess the performance of advertising products. The individual will also recommend new products and packages to help drive advertising revenues. The Finance Analyst will also work with other business units, help build budgets, measure performance against plan, and recommend profit improvement and revenue growth opportunities.

 

The Finance Analyst will be a self-starter and operate with the objective of finding solutions. You will have strong business intelligence, analytical and problem solving skills, be highly motivated and instinctively continue to ‘peel back the onion’ until you find the answer. The successful candidate will have also excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships across multiple organizations and within a team environment.

 

Responsibilities

 

Be the nexus between sales and finance. Approve all Insertion Order terms and conditions for billing teams to input into the accounting system.

Manage weekly reporting schedule and send reports to senior management.

Directly access accounting and ERP system to create reports.

Assist budget owners in tracking performance versus budget

Calculate and process sales commission payments on monthly basis

Perform ad hoc analyses, create reports in Excel, interpret the results and communicate recommendation to management and sales force.

Develop and maintain advertiser rate cards & manage accurate billing, provide guidance on rate adjustments and assist in payment collection.

Help create annual budgets and monthly comparisons of actual vs. plan

 

You are:

0-3 years’ experience in an FP&A /ad finance role where you helped an organization use data to make decisions.

An excel super-user (not just pivot tables, lookups, macros, and data management).

Analytics-obsessed: You' know how to get at the data you want from ERP, accounting and BI packages effortlessly.

Intellectually curious. You’re a connector of dots. You’re able to look at a massive spreadsheet and unpack it for truth, using your exceptionally strong analytical qualitative and quantitative skills to guide teams on impactful decisions.

Customer-focused: Responsive in fielding questions from business office colleagues and sales team in a timely manner. Skilled at presenting financial information in a format that end-user can easily comprehend.

Communicative: Grace under pressure. That’s what you have. You’re indispensable to bosses and teammates alike for your calm, direct approach to communication – whether you’re drafting an email, solving problems or communicating a recommendation to a senior leader. Requirements:

 

Keen attention to detail, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment

Experience streamlining reporting, budgeting, and forecasting

Familiarity working within a sales driven environment.

Advanced MS Office tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) with specific knowledge of pivot tables, v-look ups, macros, etc.

Bachelor’s degree required; finance/accounting background strongly preferred.
